Tha Phae Road is aglow with lights emanating from the ‘Ta Lae’ pavilions, translating to ‘Hawk-eyed.’ These pavilions hold ceremonial significance in Lanna beliefs, serving as a symbolic safeguard for the area, warding off danger and ominous occurrences. Beyond their role in local beliefs, these fire pavilions also contribute to the city’s decorations, enhancing its beauty along the route. The display begins during the Yee Peng Festival in Chiang Mai, spanning from December 2023 to January 7, 2024. As a focal point for both day and night beauty, it has been chosen as the Countdown location in Chiang Mai for 2024, eagerly awaited by many to collectively welcome the new year.
